FAQ

Questions, answered straight

No sales fog — plain answers about how WorkOS works. If yours isn't here, a real person will answer it.

The platform

What WorkOS is, and what it replaces.

Is WorkOS one system, or a bundle of separate products?

One system, one database, one login. The invoice knows its project and payroll knows who was on leave — there is nothing to sync between tools.

What does WorkOS actually replace?

For most companies it replaces an HR tool, a project tracker, a CRM, an accounting package, a chat app and a pile of spreadsheets — with a single platform everyone signs into.

Can we turn modules on and off?

Yes. An administrator can switch whole modules on or off. Disabled modules disappear from navigation until you need them, so people only see what they use.

Can WorkOS Chat really replace Slack?

Yes. Every plan includes WorkOS Chat with apps for web, Windows and mobile, at no extra cost. Conversations live next to the projects, invoices and approvals they are about — and the history stays with your company.

Do we have to adopt everything at once?

No. Start with two or three modules and switch on more as you grow. Because it is one database, the records are already connected when you expand.

Is there a limit on how many people can use it?

No. Every plan includes unlimited team members and unlimited client portals — you are never billed per seat.

Getting started & migration

Moving across, and how long it takes.

How long does it take to go live?

Most companies are live within a week. We handle setup, data migration and training with you, so the work does not land on your team.

How hard is the move from spreadsheets and separate tools?

We migrate your data with you and run the old and new side by side, so nothing stops while you switch over. Once you are confident, you retire the old tools.

Can we try it before committing?

Yes — a 30-day free trial on your own data, with no card required. You keep the data if you decide to continue.

What do you need from us to start?

A list of your people, your current chart of accounts (or we build one with you), and any open projects and invoices. We take it from there.

Will our existing data come across?

Yes. People, contacts, projects, invoices and opening balances are imported during migration, so day one starts with your real numbers.

Do you help set it up, or is it self-serve?

We set it up with you — roles, branding and the modules you need — and train your team in person or remotely. It is included, not an extra.

Pricing & plans

How billing works, and what is included.

How is WorkOS priced?

On usage, not headcount. Your price tracks the server capacity and storage you use — never how many people log in. Plans start at ₦30,000 per month.

Do we pay per user?

No. Unlimited team members and unlimited client portals are included on every plan, so adding people never changes your bill.

Is every feature included on every plan?

Yes. Nothing is gated behind a tier — from payroll to custom roles, every feature is on every plan.

Are client portals really free?

Yes. Unlimited portals on every plan, and your clients never pay or need a paid seat to log in.

Do you charge extra for onboarding or support?

No. Setup, migration, training and ongoing support are part of the plan, not separate invoice lines.

What happens after the free trial?

Move onto a plan and keep everything, or export your data and walk away. There is no lock-in either way.

Features & modules

What the product does day to day.

Does WorkOS work in Naira?

Naira is the default, and payouts go straight to Nigerian bank accounts. Any other currency can be configured when you need it.

Is the accounting real double-entry?

Yes — a proper chart of accounts, balanced journal entries behind every transaction, and P&L, balance sheet and cash flow that are always current. Not glorified expense tracking.

What does the AI actually do?

It handles the tedious bits — like reconciling your bank statements — and drafts the busywork. It works in the background, and you stay in control of every decision.

Does it work on phones?

Yes. There are apps for web, Windows and mobile, and everyday actions like logging hours, requesting leave or approving a request are a few taps.

Can our clients see their own projects?

Yes, through a client portal — a live window into their project and invoices, with no account to create and no seat to pay for.

Can we invoice and get paid inside WorkOS?

Yes — generate and send invoices, then pay salaries and suppliers to Nigerian banks, all from the same system that keeps the books.

Security & your data

Who can see it, and where it lives.

Who at Hutstack can see our data?

A small number of engineers who operate the service, and their access is logged. We never browse customer data or use it to train anything.

Is WorkOS SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certified?

Not today, and we will not imply otherwise. We build to the controls those standards describe, and we will complete your security questionnaire or join your audit.

Where is our data stored?

On our managed hosting, in a region named in your contract. Enterprise customers get a dedicated configuration — still hosted and managed by us.

What happens when a staff member leaves?

Deactivate the user and their access ends immediately. The company keeps the full history, chat included.

Can we enforce two-factor authentication for everyone?

Yes, at the system level. Enterprise plans can also connect your own single sign-on provider.

Can we get our data out if we leave?

Yes — a full export in a portable format, at any point. Your data is yours, with no lock-in.

Support & training

How to reach us when it matters.

Who answers when we need help?

People in Lagos who know the product — you can reach the team that builds it, not a scripted call centre.

How do we reach support?

By phone, WhatsApp or email, Monday to Friday, 8am–6pm WAT. Existing customers get a dedicated support address.

Is training included?

Yes. We train your team as part of getting started, in person or remotely, and again whenever you switch on a new module.

Do you keep helping after go-live?

Yes. Support continues for every customer — it is not limited to the onboarding period.

What if we find a bug or something breaks?

Tell us and we act on it quickly. Because we run WorkOS ourselves, a real fix follows — not a ticket that disappears into a queue.

Still have a question?

Call, message or email — someone who knows the product will give you a straight answer, usually the same day.
